How to obtain an EU visa/work permit
Who is eligible to work in Europe?
Anybody who meets the requirements and criteria set forth by the European countries is eligible to work in Europe. Most European countries have programs to attract foreign professionals and fill job shortages across different fields.
What is the process for getting a Schengen visa to work in Europe?
There is no Schengen visa for work. Schengen visas can be obtained for other reasons, including tourism, family visits, business trips, medical needs, etc. You cannot obtain a Schengen Visa to work in Europe. You cannot work while holding a Schengen Visa for another purpose.
You can still work in the Schengen Area if you have a National (D) Visa from any 26 European nations in the Schengen Zone.

Schengen members have different visa policies. Employment visa programs have been set up in European countries to fill the labour shortages and cover the needs of their respective countries.
The criteria for employment visas, the requirements and the application process are all influenced by the labour country’s labour needs.
Does anyone need a visa to work in Europe?
The EU, Australia, Canada and the USA do not require a visa for work in Europe. Upon arrival in the country they will be working in, they must apply for a residence and work permit.
Before entering Schengen territory for employment purposes, citizens of other countries are required to apply for a visa.
What is the requirement for a European Work Visa?
These are the standard requirements for a European Employment Visa :
- Complete and print the Application Form. Completely completed and printed two times. Don’t forget to sign the two copies!
- Two identical photos. According to the Schengen Visa photography criteria, these photos must be taken in the last three 3 months Valid passport.
- Valid passport Your passport must be valid for at least three months before departure from the Schengen area. You must have at least two blank visa sticker pages in your passport.

- Travel medical insurance. Up to 30,000 Euros for any medical emergency, including hospitalization and return to the home country. The insurance must be valid for all Schengen countries and purchased before getting the visa.
- Proof of Accommodation. A document that shows where you will be residing in the Schengen Area, i.e. rent agreement.
- Proof of accommodation. Rent agreement or a document stating where you plan to reside within the Schengen Area Employment contract.
- Proof of academic qualifications. Diplomas, certificates, transcripts of grades, etc.
- Proof of language proficiency. Many countries want you to fit in, even if you plan to work for only one year. Many countries will require you to have a certain level of proficiency in their official language.
The above are just the minimum requirements for obtaining a visa to work in Europe. Additional requirements exist for each Schengen and other European countries outside this zone.

- Determine if you are eligible for a visa to work in the EU.
