Australia provides a permanent residence or PR visa to newcomers. The visa is valid for five years. With a PR visa, you can relocate to Australia and your entire family. It is possible to apply for citizenship using a PR visa once you have lived in Australia for three years.

The list includes the jobs that are currently accepted for a visa to Australia. The jobs listed are updated frequently to reflect the changing conditions in the Australian labor market. There are three categories in the SOL:

  2. Short-term Skilled Occupation List
  3. Regional Occupations List

Eligibility points requirement for PR visa

A score of 65 is the minimum amount needed to qualify for a PR visa. The more you score on the eligibility test, the better the chance of getting accepted to apply in the form of an Australian PR. Scores ranging from 80- 85 points could be enough to qualify for a more rapid invitation to apply for PR.

Following Australian visas require a minimum of 65 points to be eligible to apply for a PR visa:

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)

This visa is intended for qualified foreign workers who have the required skills needed to be employed by Australia. Australian government. The subclass 189 visa allows the holder of this visa to be employed and live permanently within Australia.

No sponsor or nominator is required.

You are only able to request this type of visa once you have been officially invited to apply for it.

You must be under 45 years old in order for you to be eligible to apply.

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)

The system allows skilled workers who have been nominated to work, live, or study anywhere in the state or territory of Australia to be permanent citizens.

Similar to subclass 189, in order to be eligible for subclass 190, you must have been invited to apply.

For both subclasses, 189 as well as 190 need to be able to

  • Score 65 on the points calculator
  • The email you receive will be requesting you to complete your application
  • Do you have a job that is listed on the Skilled Occupation List
  • Have an appropriate skills assessment to perform the job.

English tests will also be required.
